Nikki Lorton
Nikki is originally from northern Arizona where she grew up with horses, cows, goats, chickens, dogs, cats and the occasional oddity her mom brought home from the veterinary hospital. Her mother instilled in her a love of animals, especially horses. Nikki participated in 4-H throughout school. One of her favorite memories of childhood was riding all over the valley to the homes of her friends, where they would ride together.
During college she worked at an equestrian camp for young girls. After many decades of visiting family in Montana she had the pleasure of making Bozeman her new home in 2010. Nikki has had a career in education for the last 27 years and is employed as an Interventionist at Anderson School. She volunteered at Eagle Mount in their Adaptive Horsemanship Program as an instructor, and leader, and eventually became employed as the Volunteer Coordinator and Instructor. For over 10 years, Nikki has been a PATH certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning.
Nikki has been sharing the calming presence of horses with the youth in Windhorse programs for the last year as a volunteer, and she is glad to be able to also serve on the Board and help ensure the organization’s ongoing success.
