Experience Rescued Hearts, the powerful award-winning documentary uncovering the miracles, mystery, and science of healing with horses, proudly brought to Bozeman by Windhorse Equine Learning and Upper Canyon Outreach.
Inspired by a life-changing moment when a 7-year-old child diagnosed with autism spoke his first words while interacting with a horse, filmmakers Dana Croschere and Krisanna Sexton set out to explore the profound and often miraculous connection between horses and humans. This is the first hour of a 2-hour documentary. The full documentary will be available later in 2026.
Through deeply moving personal stories and expert insights, the film explores how horses offer a space where healing and transformation can unfold - a space where healing is never one-sided.
Age Guidance: Rescued Hearts is not officially rated and includes brief, non-graphic references to sensitive themes within personal healing stories, so we encourage parents to use their discretion when deciding if it is appropriate for their child.
About Our Event Partner:
Upper Canyon Outreach is a Montana-based non-profit providing a proven framework of psychological tools to help participants develop self-awareness and cognitive team building. Designed to support active military and Veterans through the development of horsemanship skills, participants harness neural pathways that support the process of integrating separate areas of their lives – promoting self-improvement as individuals and as teams. Through earned partnerships with horses, participants learn to apply these emotional intelligence skills to daily life, mental well-being, authentic connection, family, leadership and work.
Based on the high level of interest, demand and need identified through programs during our first three years, Upper Canyon Outreach has expanded its programming offering to build upon foundational skills and support past participants as they move forward in their careers and lives. We have created and initiated a Phase II curriculum, launched a past participant peer-networking program and introduced a mentorship development initiative.
