Darcy Minter, Executive Director
Darcy is a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and a Specialist in Equine Mental Health and Learning certified by PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International). She has also been trained in Natural Lifemanship and in EAL facilitation techniques at Strides to Success. She started Windhorse because she wholeheartedly believes that horses can transform lives, and she wanted to give young people in need an opportunity to experience their powerful medicine. Darcy spent 28 years as a communications and marketing professional in government, corporate and nonprofit organizations, most recently as the communications director for the Western Folklife Center in Elko, NV. She has a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management from Seattle University, and a Master of Science degree in American Studies/Folklore from Utah State University. Darcy’s love of horses started when she was very young at her grandmother’s ranch camp in the mountains of northern New Mexico. She moved to Montana from Seattle in 1999 so she could have a horse of her own, and she now dabbles in dressage with her Andalusian gelding Enzo.
