Who We Are

Mission & History

Empowering Youth through Hands-On Learning with Horses

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Windhorse Equine Learning enhances youth mental health by equipping kids and teens with the essential tools needed to navigate life challenges. Our programs teach social emotional skills and build confidence and resilience through experiential learning with horses. Kids learn about leadership, respect, communication, partnership, responsibility, trust, empathy, resilience and connection, as they halter, groom, lead, longe and play with horses on the ground and in the saddle.

Windhorse Equine Learning offered its first programs in 2013. Since then, we have served 846 individual kids in our school-year programs, field trips and summer camps. For a schedule of school-year classes and summer camps click here. A primary goal of Windhorse is to ensure that all kids are able to learn and grow with horses, so we offer scholarships to economically disadvantaged families. Since 2013, we have provided 315 scholarships totaling $54,500. To enroll your child in our classes and camps, visit our classes and camps page. To apply for a scholarship visit our scholarships page.

The Windhorse Mission

By providing experiential and reflective learning opportunities with horses, Windhorse Equine Learning empowers youth to discover and realize their full potential.

Our Purpose

We exist to unlock, support, and celebrate the possibilities in every child, which can manifest through learning and connecting with horses.

Our Belief

Because we believe horses are a catalyst for change, and that the interpersonal skills kids need to thrive in today’s changing world can be learned and embodied by working with horses.

Our Vision

We envision a community in which every child has equitable access to the equine learning opportunities and resources that inspire youth to achieve fulfilling futures of all shapes and sizes.
